This Medicine Buddha Thangka surrounds Bhaisajyaguru with a striking radiating halo of fine multicolored lines fanning outward from a soft pink inner circle — a luminous, vibrating effect that distinguishes it from the solid or ornately carved halos seen in other Medicine Buddha depictions. The delicate linework creates a sense of gentle energy emanating outward, fitting for a deity whose blessing is the restoration of vitality.
His deep blue form sits in the earth-touching posture, holding a bowl of healing nectar in his lap while his extended hand holds the stem of a flowering myrobalan branch rising beside him. His richly patterned orange robes are rendered with fine gold detailing throughout, contrasting warmly against the cool blue of his skin. The surrounding landscape is soft and pastel-toned: a winding river dotted with pink lotus blossoms and broad lily pads flows through the lower left corner, while rocky outcrops wrapped in white clouds rest to the right. Gentle green hills stretch outward beneath a pale sky where a single moon and a small cluster of clouds appear. At the base, the eight auspicious symbols rest quietly in the grass.
This clean, luminous composition — radiating halo above, blooming water below — offers a calming visual focus well suited for healing practices, meditation spaces, and quiet home altars.
P.S. This Medicine Buddha Thangka is painted taking references from Buddhist books following the correct iconography and by master artists, making it authentic traditional handmade Tibetan art. The subtle facial expression is one factor to distinguish the real effort put into creating this masterpiece.
